Sanctions against Russia are stupid, believes Marine Le Pen, the president of the French far-right National Front.
"These sanctions are stupid, and have contributed to adding fuel to the fire, created a hostile environment against Russia," said the French politician at a press conference.
Le Pen believes that Russia is one of those countries which "preserves Ukraine's sovereignty and avoids the degradation of this situation to a civil war."
"The best way to stop this is to put everyone around the table," she said, adding that Western countries "should not treat Russia with contempt," because Russia is "a big regional player."
The EU is implementing sanctions against 11 more individuals for their involvement in eastern Ukrainian tensions, AP quoted an EU source as saying. The source added that the sanctions will be made official by the end of this week. The names of the affected individuals have not yet been disclosed.

US President Barack Obama and his French counterpart Francois Hollande agreed that Europe should adopt further costly sanctions against Russia if Moscow does not introduce measures to de-escalate tensions in eastern Ukraine, the White House said in a statement. Kiev's military has again shelled the city of Lugansk in eastern Ukraine, using Grad multiple rocket launchers, causing casualties and damaging several buildings, Itar-Tass reports, citing the self-defense headquarters of the Lugansk People's Republic.
At least 30 rockets were fired at Lugansk, the source said, adding that one of them hit a vehicle, killing several people who were inside it.
Within an hour after the bombing started, the self-defense forces responded with mortar shelling, following which the military stopped their offensive, Lugansk People's Republic representatives said.
The Ukrainian military are attempting to encircle the cities of Donetsk and Lugansk to block access for the self-defense forces to get supplies, Andrey Lysenko, the speaker for the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council, told journalists. He added that residents of the two East Ukrainian cities won't be blocked.
"For local residents, that means that they are free to leave these towns, pass through checkpoints and be provided with aid," Lysenko said, Itar-Tass reported.
There can be no excuses or pretexts for postponing the ceasefire in Ukraine, as civilians are suffering as a result of the confrontation, the number of refugees is increasing and the civilian infrastructure is being destroyed, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a news conference in Sofia, Bulgaria.
"We really want this goal [the ceasefire] to be obvious to all states that influence the sides [of the Ukrainian conflict] in one way or another – primarily to the EU. We believe that leading European states do realize their responsibility for what is happening, and we really want the US to understand that responsibility as well," Lavrov said.
Belgrade supports all the initiatives on the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis put forward by President Vladimir Putin, Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandr Vucic said during a meeting in Moscow with his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev.
Despite multiple calls from Moscow, Ukraine's western partners, international organizations and the public, Kiev is pursuing its mass military campaign in the east of the country, resulting in casualties and the destruction of infrastructure.
"Kiev is turning a deaf ear to calls to save people's lives," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Ukraine government forces "are destroying their own cities using tactics that even occupation forces hardly ever apply in hostile territory."
On July 6, "the National Guard chasteners" were carrying out a mop-up operation in Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"Local police employees have been arrested and taken to an unknown location. Everyone who is suspected of cooperation with the Donetsk People's Republic militia are facing repressions; even those who've ever given an interview to Russian journalists are being arrested," the statement reads.
Moscow hopes that the EU will adequately react to the situation and condemn "Kiev government's criminal policy."

Moscow is concerned with reports of eastern Ukrainian cities abandoned by self-defense forces still being shelled by Ukrainian troops.
"We are getting the most troubling information, saying that the Ukrainian troops continue mass shelling of the territories, like Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, which were abandoned by the self-defense forces," said Russian Foreign Ministry's commissioner for human rights, Konstantin Dolgov. "That means that this whole punitive operation from start to end is an attempt to exert pressure on a significant part of the Ukrainian population which is dissatisfied, does not want to reconcile with the plans the authorities in Kiev are imposing on them."
Dolgov has called for an immediate termination of the military operation by Kiev.

Around 2,000 protesters gathered in the center of Donetsk, the citadel of the anti-Kiev struggle in the east of Ukraine, to hold a rally against the Kiev authorities.
The protesters brought flags and placards with them, demanding an immediate cessation of Kiev's military operation in Donbass. The people's governor of the Donetsk Republic addressed the crowd, explaining the reasons behind self-defense forces tactical retreat from Slavyansk.
Kiev authorities are arresting all men aged between 25 and 35 years old in the city of Slavyansk, Oleg Tsarev of the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics told Rossiya 24 TV. The state security forces are detaining all men in the age gap, without investigating whether they have joined the self-defense forces or not.
"Over night they arrested all police officers and moved them out of town. Now they are arresting all guys from 25 to 35 years old, and it doesn't matter whether they've touched weapons or not. Searches are being conducted. They're trying to figure out who helped feeding the injured," Tsarev said.
The Ukrainian army will besiege the cities of Lugansk and Donetsk in the country's east, in an attempt to make the self-defense forces lay down arms, Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council official told Ukrainian Inter TV channel on Sunday.
"The main strategic plan of the Ukrainian army is to besiege Lugansk and Donetsk," Mikhail Koval, deputy secretary of the Council said. Such measures will force the local "separatists" to lay down arms, he added.
Ukrainian forces attacked the suburbs of the city of Lugansk from the air.
"Ukrainian aviation launched missile strikes at Aleksandrovka, the Lugansk suburb. Ukrainian airplanes are in the skies above Lugansk. A siren is on," press service of the Donetsk People's Republic wrote on Twitter.
The attack was launched the same day Kiev said it would not bombard armed groups in Lugansk and Donetsk from the air. "The tactics of the Ukrainian Army, the National Guard and the Border Service are such that massive bombardment of residential areas is excluded," Andrey Lysenko, spokesman of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council said on Sunday.

Forgive us for not dying in Slavyansk
July 6, 2014 - by Igor Druze (Igor Strelkov's Advisor) translated from Russian by Gleb Bazov
The Militia was forced to leave Slavyansk. Of course, we were prepared to stand firm to the end, and were ready to obey any order to that effect from the Commander-in-Chief. All of us had prepared wills and said our farewells to our kin. But we are military people, and we were prepared to follow also another order. All the more so, because we trust absolutely both Igor Strelkov's decency and his military experience.
After all, this man is a veteran of 4 wars, and, to boot, as a volunteer. What would have happened if the Russia army decided to hold Moscow to the end in 1812, or Kiev – in 1941? There would not have been the taking of Paris or, respectively, Berlin; instead, the army – "Russia's only ally" – would have perished in vain. I am absolutely certain of our victory, and that will also liberate Kiev. Only question remains is at what price in blood and how fast.
Accordingly, it is very strange suddenly to read the wild speculations of some purported patriots that Igor Strelkov is now guilty of everything under the sun. Including – .... ( read all source )

BREAKING: Ukraine government armoured now rolling into Kramatorsk, according to @Ruptly stringer on the ground.
6:05 PM - 5 Jul 2014
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk has announced that the military operation on "liberating Slavyansk and Kramatorsk from terrorists" has been accomplished, the government press-service reported on Saturday.
The country's President Petro Poroshenko called the "liberation of Slavyansk" symbolic.
"It's not a complete victory yet. But the clearing of Slavyansk from an armed to teeth gang of bigots has a huge symbolic meaning," he said Saturday commenting on the issue, his official website reports. According to Poroshenko, it is a turning point "in the fight with terrorists for the territorial integrity of Ukraine" and for "the return to normal life" in the Donetsk region.
Poroshenko ordered authorities to provide humanitarian aid to residents of Slavyansk and other areas "liberated from militants". He also promised that works to resume water and energy supply will start in the nearest future.
So far though, the military operation seems to have brought local residents only grief and devastation.

"You think you won? That was a tactical retreat. We will enter Slavyansk again, with victory," Denis Pushilin, one of the DPR leaders twitted.

Ukraine: People flee Kramatorsk after DPR Slavyansk withdrawal
As Russian Channel One reported earlier, the self-defense forces have been forced to leave Slavyansk after a "massive shelling" of the city following which armored vehicles entered the area and street fighting began. That's when the self-defense forces took the decision to leave the city, the channel said.
"Despite the massive shooting, the fighters stormed out of the city and headed for neighboring Kramatorsk. Part of their hardware was shot down in the process," the channel said.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko ordered the military to raise the Ukrainian flag over Slavyansk, his press service said.
"The head of General Headquarters Viktor Muzhenko has reported to Ukraine's president, Petro Poroshenko, about the fact that overnight, while the self-defense groups were trying to escape Slavyansk they came under mortar fire from the Ukrainian military. As a result, one armored vehicle, two infantry fighting vehicles and two airborne combat vehicles belonging to the [self-defense] fighters have been shot down," the press service also said.
IMAGE: Ukraine flag raised in Slavyansk after Donetsk militia left city for Kramatorsk
Hours later as self-defense troops left their second stronghold as well, the Ukrainian flag was raised over the Kramatorsk administration building, which was used as the DPR headquarters.
"In the early afternoon all the DNR soldiers came to Kramatorsk from Slavyansk. They all massed in the Lenin square and around the center," American photographer Patrick Lancaster told RT by phone adding that two hours later the self defense forces left the city.
Preparing to leave the city, the self-defense fighters distributed food and water supplies from DNR amongst the local population, Lancaster says, adding that they had also taken down DNR posters and insignia, that included the flag of the self proclaimed republic.
"When the Ukrainian army entered the main square, there were around two tanks, two APCs, and 15-20 foot soldiers, some of them snipers and some carrying rocket-propelled grenades," Lancaster recalls.
They went on to fly the Ukrainian bi-color flag on the roof of the former DNR headquarters. After parading the flag around, "they jumped back on their tanks, and left," Lancaster says.
Further to the south, in the capital of the region Donetsk, eyewitnesses say they spotted a lot of DPR's military hardware and "suntanned and bearded men with tattoos," RIA Novosti quotes.
The Donetsk authorities said earlier they did not have any confirmation that the self-defense forces were moving toward the city, Mayor Aleksandr Lukyanchenko's website said.
Earlier, one of the leaders of the Donetsk People's Republic, Pavel Gubarev, said the Slavyansk militia would probably relocate to Donetsk and the surrounding area.
After the militia were forced to leave their positions in the northern part of the front, they moved to reserve positions that had been prepared in advance, Itar-Tass news agency reported, citing Prime Minister of the Donetsk People's Republic, Aleksandr Boroday, as saying.
"Our troops have consolidated at the reserve lines of defense, in an organized way and having kept their weaponry. We were prepared for this option, as we have to face tens of thousands of Kiev's military men and hundreds of armored weaponry units – which means almost all the battle-ready Ukrainian army," Boroday said.
"Taking into account the 'scorched earth' tactics employed by Kiev's punitive forces, and the strategy of genocide toward the Donbass population, we declare that every hour of military action claims civilians' lives," Boroday said.
In connection with this, he appealed to the international community, calling on them to "influence the Ukrainian authorities and stop the killings of civilians.

Loud explosions were heard in the area of the Donetsk airport, and gunfire is going on there, local residents told RIA-Novosti news agency. Also, two fighter jets were spotted carrying out strikes on unidentified targets in the area where the airport is situated.
"We are asking the people living near the airport not to leave their apartments, to stay away from their windows and not to go outside except in case of urgent necessity," the website of the Donetsk mayor's office said in a warning.
The Russian Foreign Ministry announced Saturday that Moscow is halting the process of delivering weapons, Ukrainian military forces' equipment and funds from the territory of Crimea to Kiev authorities due to their military actions in the east, which have resulted in the "deaths of civilians, including children, and civilian infrastructure in Donetsk and Lugansk regions being destroyed."
"The decision will be valid until a full ceasefire in the east of Ukraine by the country's military and until a peaceful solution is reached," Russia's Foreign Ministry said.
Kiev to detect 'traitors' among police in Donetsk region
Ukrainian Interior Ministry has announced it is going to launch an investigation against "every policeman" in Slavyansk to find out whether they cooperated with the self-defense forces.
Such line-of-duty checks will define if "an employee of Slavyansk police cooperated with separatists or maintained loyalty to the Ukrainian people," Deputy Interior Minister Sergey Yarovoy said, as cited by Ukrainian media.
Police in the Donetsk region will be reformed - starting from the cities of Donetsk and Lugansk "due to necessity" - said Interior Minister Arsen Avakov. And for now, law enforcers from other Ukrainian regions will be sent to work in the area.
"Policemen from the entire country will be working there, including those who got though the filter of fighting during the anti-terrorist operation – in other words guys who were not afraid," he told journalists, as sited by segodnya.ua news portal.
All the policemen who violated their oaths and left their guard posts in Donetsk and Lugansk region have been fired, Avakov said. He added that in some cases, "these people were arrested".
So today Slaviansk has finally fallen to the Nazis. Those of us with a military background all understood that this was pretty much inevitable and, obviously, so did the leaders of the Novorussian resistance. The fact that it took so long for the entire Ukie army to take that small town really says a lot about the amazing courage of its defenders and/or about the no less amazing incompetence (or lack of motivation) of the attackers. It appears that what happened is that Strelkov took the (wise) decision to abandon the town and to only leave a very small covering force to protect his retreating units. This plan apparently went well, the defenders broke through the Ukie lines with no losses and they are now heading towards the city of Gorlovka (as defending Kramatorsk and Konstantinovka makes no sense at this point). The military purpose of Slaviansk was to concentrate the Ukie death squads around itself to allow for the preparation of the real line of defense along the Donetsk-Gorlovka-Lugansk axis. The battle for Slaviansk achieved this purpose.
In purely military terms, the above is pretty much all which can be said about this event. But war is not a purely military phenomenon. In reality, wars are always deeply political, and politics is a multi-dimensional realm in which purely military factors are always secondary to much more important ones such as symbolism.
In political terms, the fall of Slaviansk is a disaster for Novorussia and even Russia.
If Slaviank had been taken weeks ago after a couple of days of fighting, it would have been a no big deal loss. But Slaviansk resisted for weeks and in the course of these weeks it became a symbol of resistance. Now that it has fallen, however, Slaviansk has become the symbol of Russian inaction. Purely military arguments simply don't matter here and perceptions become everything. And the perception is clearly that Putin failed to deliver on his promise to protect Novorussia and that the defenders of Slaviansk fought and died in vain. Furthermore, now that Slaviansk, Kramatorsk and Konstantinovka have fallen (or are in the process of being overrun by the Ukies), there is no way to avoid the worst kind of combats: Donetsk, Gorlovka and Lugansk are next.
Furthermore, what matters here is not only that Slaviansk has fallen, but why and how it has fallen. Slaviansk has fallen because Russia did absolutely nothing or, at least, nothing adequate, to prevent it from falling. As for how it fell, it fell in a bloodbath of murdered civilians: the Ukies essentially used only artillery to basically flatten the town. In other words, Russia let a mass murder of civilians go not only unpunished, but even unchallenged. One could argue that Russia had no obligation to take any action. This would be true if Putin had not officially promised not to allow such an event to take place. But he did commit himself and, through him, all of Russia, to extend a protection to the people of Novorussia.
Today, this promise appears to have been just words.
Consequences for Putin
The consequences for Putin of this situation are now becoming very serious because not only has the lack of Russian proactive measures terribly disappointed the Novorussian people, but it is now also beginning to alienate more and more people inside Russia including Putin's core base of support. As I have written many times, the rage in Russia about the actions of the Nazi junta is huge and becoming stronger every day. The risk for Putin is that this rage might eventually become directed at him personally.
Does that mean that Putin has to send in the tanks ASAP?
No, but at the very least, Russian officials should stop their never-ending flow of appeasing statements and also express that popular rage. Today, the Russian TV channels have announced that Russia is "suspending" the return of Ukie military hardware from Crimea to the junta. If that is their idea of a sign of rage, then they PR folks in the Kremlin should be immediately fired. Not only is it both lame and crazy to hand back even one old and broken AK to an illegal Nazi regime in Kiev (remember, symbolic actions matter), but the notion that stopping this shameful handover is an adequate reaction to the events in the Donbass is simply delusional.
The great disconnect
There is something really weird happening in Russia right now. While it is true that most Russians probably would not support an overt and full-scale Russian intervention in the Donbass, the Russia media is constantly barraging the public with reports about Ukrainian atrocities and about the Novorussian resistance. Representatives of the resistance, including top-level political figures like Tsarev, get to speak on the main Russian TV news and talk shows no less than once a week and with the exception of a few confused and isolated "liberals", almost every single guest on these shows advocates some kind of retaliatory measure against the junta. For example, it is my honest impression that a strong majority of Russian intellectuals and analysts favor a massive humanitarian, technical and financial support campaign for Novorussia. I would also say that most of them feel that Russia has to send enough military aid to allow the Novorussians to defend themselves. Again, with the exception of a few completely discredited (and openly ridiculed) pro-US "liberal", everybody shows a total contempt for, and condemnation of, Poroshenko and the Nazi junta in Kiev. The best and kindest thing you hear about Poroshenko is that he does not matter, that he is only a spokesman for the US, that the real ruler of Kiev is the US Ambassador and that Poroshenko has no real power at all. Most think of him as a Nazi war criminal.
So there you have it. The people who for years have formed the power base of Putin openly call the Kiev regime a Nazi junta while the Kremlin makes one appeasing statement after another, interspersed here and there with lame protests which everybody simply ignores.
This cannot continue for much longer.
If the Russian betrayal of Iran and Libya could be legitimately blamed on Medvedev and his "Atlantic Integrationists", a now possible collapse of Novorussia will be blamed directly on Putin, and I would argue fairly so.
Now Russia cannot retreat a single centimeter further
That's it. The conflict has now reached a critical phase. If in purely military terms the fall of Slavianks and Kramatorsk are really no big deal, the fall of Donetsk or Lugansk would mean the end of the entire Novorussian project. In simple terms, that would mean a NATO controlled russophobic Nazi regime right across the Russian border. True, Banderastan is not viable and objective economic and now social factors (tens of thousands of heavily armed Nazis roaming across the country, for one thing) will inevitably result in an explosive collapse, but until that happens Lugansks and Donetsk must be held at all cost, including, if that is what it takes, a full-scale ground operation of the Russian armed forces.
Оn July 28, 1942 Stalin issued his famous Order 227 which contained the key sentence "ни шагу назад" or "not a single step backwards". This order included the following words in which I have just substituted the words "Soviet" and "Red" with "Russian" and "German" with "AngloZionist":The enemy throws new forces to the front without regard to heavy losses and penetrates deep into Russia, seizing new regions, destroying our cities and villages, and violating, plundering and killing the Russian population. (...) The population of our country, who love and respect the Russian Army, start to be discouraged in her, and lose faith in the Russian Army, and many curse the Russian Army for leaving our people under the yoke of the AngloZionist oppressors, and itself running east. Some stupid people at the front calm themselves with talk that we can retreat further to the east, as we have a lot of territory, a lot of ground, a lot of population and that there will always be much bread for us. They want to justify the infamous behavior at the front. But such talk is falsehood, helpful only to our enemies. Each commander, Russian Army soldier and political commissar should understand that our means are not limitless. The territory of the Russian state is not a desert, but people - workers, peasants, intelligentsia, our fathers, mothers, wives, brothers, children. (...) Therefore it is necessary to eliminate talk that we have the capability endlessly to retreat, that we have a lot of territory, that our country is great and rich, that there is a large population, and that bread always will be abundant. Such talk is false and parasitic, it weakens us and benefits the enemy (...) This leads to the conclusion, it is time to finish retreating. Not one step back! Such should now be our main slogan. It is necessary to defend each position, each meter of our territory, up to the last drop of blood, to cling for each plot of Russian land and to defend it as long as possible. Our Motherland is experiencing hard days. We must stop, and then to throw back and smash the enemy regardless of cost. The AngloZionists are not so strong, as it seems to the panic-mongers. They strain their last forces. To withstand their impact now, means to ensure our victory in some months.Amazing, no? Prophetic words which I wish we would hear from the Kremlin today. Instead, all I hear from the Kremlin are vapid and lame protests. This cannot continue any further: Russia must react in a determined and effective way.
What exactly that way must be is for Putin and his Security Council to decide. But what is certain is that action must be taken now to clearly and visibly stop the Ukie assault. And if the only way is to bring in the Russian military, then I say "do it!".
I am publishing the following map and videos "for your information", as background information about the current situation.
This map is current as of yesterday. It is in Russian, but it is also rather self-explanatory.
I have to tell you honestly that I do not have the time or stomach the following videos which were sent to me by readers. I can't vouch for the quality of these videos, but they look well made to me.
The following two part video deal with the Odessa massacre.

Global chessboard enthusiast Zbigniew Brzezinski has a plan for Ukraine. In a recent speech to the Woodrow Wilson Center, excerpted by the Atlantic Council, he argues forcefully in favor of the United States providing the Ukrainian military far more weapons.
Under the guise of preventing a Russian invasion of Ukraine, which has been the rallying cry of those who seek more US involvement in the region, Brzezinski believes that the US must provide Ukraine with enough weapons to deter Russian aggression toward Ukraine.
The odds of defending against the invading Russian military being very low, Brzezinski has a different idea of how the US should arm the Kiev government.
Said the former National Security Advisor:I feel that we should make it clear to the Ukrainians that if they are determined to resist, as they say they are and seemingly they are trying to do so (albeit not very effectively), we will provide them with anti-tank weapons, hand-held anti-tank weapons, hand-held rockets—weapons capable for use in urban short range fighting. The US must provide urban warfare equipment to the Kiev government, he says, in order to forestall the impending Russian invasion.
But what else could a huge shipment of urban warfare weapons and the advisors that go with them be used for?
We already see with the resumption of Kiev's attacks on the east, a sharp turn toward the targeting of civilian apartment blocks and non-military targets. We know from a recent United Nations report that more than 100,000 have already fled eastern Ukraine. The country's post-coup president, Petro Poroshenko, was very clear, ending the ceasefire (that wasn't much of a ceasefire) by stating that "We will attack and we will liberate our land!"
Does that mean liberating it from the "others" who do not accept rule by the post-coup government? Those who Kiev's prime minister Arseniy "Yats" Yatsenyuk has already called "subhumans"?
Urban warfare equipment and training for the Kiev military machine would, as Russian political scientist Yevgeny Minchenko points out, mean "municipal infrastructure will be destroyed, leading to a humanitarian catastrophe." In his view, “[t]he war will continue, and people will gradually leave their homes. It will be bad for both sides, but neither one can stop now.”
Brzezinski has long advocated US domination of Ukraine to deprive Russia of any productive relationship with its neighbor. "Without Ukraine, Russia ceases to be a Eurasian empire,” he wrote in his 1997 book book, The Grand Chessboard.
Ethnic cleansing of ethnic Russians and Russian speakers may be exactly what Brzezinski has in mind.
Grüße an alle, Umarmung."Originaltext

With the recent overthrow of the Ukrainian government of Yanukovych images of Neo-nazis have been all over the alternative media. Svoboda and right sector openly nazi in style and belief have been included in the new Ukrainian Government even being given charge of defense. These groups which are anti-Russian anti-communist and ironically considering the role played by Neo-cons in the coup anti-semitic. They trace their origins to Stephen Bandera who in collaboration with the Nazi SS killed tons of Poles Russians, Jews, and Ukrainians. Their emergence has provided either the pretext according to the state department or the justification according to the Kremlin for what has been labeled an invasion. What's actually going on in crimea is sort difficult to discern either a Russian proxy army, or the Russian army itself has taken over with wide popular support. Probably these self defense forces are made up of concerned civilians, former Ukrainian police and military plus some Russian army in disguise. Comparing it to the shock and awe of the Iraq invasion is absurd so far no one has been killed despite violent provocations by anti-crimean infiltrators. Still for a while things looked dangerous although the west appears to be backing down. But this is hardly the first time America supposed champion of democracy has allied itself with fascists, so here is a brief history of a few episodes in that relationship.Anti- Imperialist U
First there were the ties between big American corporations and the Nazi's some like Ford a notorious anti-semite were enthusiastic supporters. Others merely hoped to use fascism to prevent communist revolutions and to attack the soviet union. A similar divide existed in Britain as well. All of course wanted to make a buck. Probably the most notorious of these businessmen was Prescott Bush father of Bush I and grandpa of Bush II. He was in business with the man who funded Hitler's rise to power Fritz Thyssen. Even during the war these business dealings continued American corporations owned parts of the german war machine and even had enough influence to make sure their factories were not bombed.
Even before the war ended the OSS the precursor to the CIA began to collaborate with Nazis and Fascists against various communist resistance movements to Fascism. In addition they recruited various fascist groups to launch future destabilization against the soviets. In Ukraine for example they waged a failed guerrilla war against the soviets well into the 50's using SS trained guerillas. Some Nazis were brought to America in Operation paperclip either because of their scientific expertise or because of experience with intelligence. Thus Reinhardt Gehlen former high ranking Nazi intelligence had a major impact on both the formation of the CIA and in creating the whole cold war paranoia with his trumped up intel. As a reward he was reinstalled in Germany to head German intelligence. Some went to south America and allied with right wing forces getting into all sorts of trouble. Klaus Barbie for instance would participate in a a successful Bolivian coup on behalf of a drug cartel in the early 80's. In Chile a colony of ex nazis would run a torture center and helped the new Pinochet regime make an exact replica of a concentration camp to put Allende supporters in.
That story is fairly well known at least the scientist part. What is less well known at least in America is the story of operation Gladio. America created a stay behind army of fascists both behind the iron curtain where they engaged in a destabilization campaign and in western Europe. The ones in western Europe would be exposed in an Italian scandal when it was discovered they had been carrying out a terror campaign that was blamed on the left. These included massive bombings killing hundreds as well as the kidnapping and murder of major politicians. This was known as the strategy of tension. Yesterday a conversation secretly taped by Ukrainian intelligence emerged revealing that the protestors were killed by snipers employed by the opposition which also was responsible for shooting police. Somethings never change. Actually these sorts of incidents are common in color revolutions. In Belgium it emerged that this Gladio network was responsible for a series of seemingly random attacks at grocery stores. Most shocking of all was this the shift by NATO to gladio B inspired by the success of the mujahideen in Afganistan and the balkans. Gladio B to simplify is none other then Al Qaeda as revealed by former FBI translator Sibel Edmonds. Most of it's attacks have traditionally been in Russia China and central Asia. It has also been used in Bosnia, Chechnya, Kosovo, Iraq, Libya and Syria. It has already made it's appearance in the maidan protests in Ukraine and is no doubt already operating among the Crimean tartars.
One little remembered CIA partnership was with the world anti-communist league, although founded by right wing dictatorships in south Korea and Taiwan by the 70's many of it's european branches had been taken over by former Nazis and fascists and in America it was run by white supremacists. This organization was involved in major drug dealing, weapons smuggling and terrorism. It was allied with some of the worst dictators in latin America. It helped in the creation of death squads.
Like the use of islamic extremists America's relationship with Fascists did not end with the Cold war. Especially relevant is what happened in Yugoslavia. Although seldom discussed in the Western Media where we were told that the Serbs were the new Nazi's in reality it was the people the west brought to power in Croatia that best fit that title. During world war 2 the Nazi's created a Croatian state. It was run by the Fascist Usatshe party. It slaughtered thousands of Serbs as well as the usual Nazi enemies Jews, leftists, and Gypsies. It's policy towards the serbs was kill a third convert a third, expel a third. In 1990 Franjo Trudjman became president of Croatia he adopted the old Ustashe flag and many former Ustashe members smuggled to the west in operation paperclip returned home in triumph. Like today the western media refused to say a word about any of this. Nor did they say anything when the Croatians ethnically cleansed the country of Serbs with the assistance of the CIA and MPRI a mercenary firm. For more On the complex wars in Yugoslavia read Diana Johnstone's "Fools Crusade." It will become increasingly relevant in the weeks ahead.
Thankfully in this Internet age these things are harder to cover up and forced by alt-media reports and Russian state Television the BBC recently did a story on Nazi's in Ukraine. As revealed by William Engdahl Nato intelligence and the CIA have been supporting these Nazis since at least the 90's. Given CIA involvement with these groups in the 40's and 50's it's tempting to believe that America may have been supporting Fascists in Ukraine for over 70 Years. No doubt calling them freedom fighters all along. If you haven't heard about the Nazi's this article sums up recent events and has a link to the BBC video. For everything else just do a search on paperclip or gladio they are open secrets.
The Ukrainian Civil war entered a new phase with the withdrawal of forces from Salvyansk. The Self Defense Forces were forced to abandon the Heroic city whose example in resisting the coup regime helped inspire the birth of Novorossiya, It was a massive Symbolic defeat despite representing a tactical victory as Colonel Strelkov managed to break out of encirclement and escape with his men. Unfortunately it also means that the brave citizens of Slavyansk now live under fascist occupation and the murder of known sympathizers has already begun. In fact the true horror of the kiev regime was recently revealed in a series of hacked face book messages showing That the regime have taken the idea of profiting from war to gruesome new levels. If genuine the Facebook messages show Failed Presidential candidate Yulia "Nuke Em" Timoshenko's lawyer Segey Vlasenko acting as a middleman between German Surgeon Olga Wieber and Ukrainian military who agreed (for a cut) to harvest and sell the organs of their fallen troops to Germany. There rich germans were willing to pay black market prices for black-market organs. Meanwhile in Iraq the attempt at balkanization became all too apparent as America offered no real assistance while calling for Maliki to step down as if he was the new Assad.
Slavyansk: now is the time to record the story of the brave resistance of what is known as the Heroic city. Arriving with only 20 light armed men Colonel Strelkov managed to wage an effective guerrilla campaign for months which saw his forces grow through volunteers who armed themselves through a series of battlefield victories. Thus they were able to hold this small town of 25,000 people with a few hundred volunteers agains a 15,000 strong Ukrainian army and the fascist national guard. Unfortunately the Ukrainian army was able to seize a nearby mountain position from which they could bombard the region targeting mainly the civilian population hoping to turn them against the Self defense forces. They waged a long campaign of destruction continuing to bombard the city despite a supposed cease Fire. The internet was awash in the images of carnage houses destroyed and a steady stream of dead men, women and children victims of Ukraine's supposed democratic regime. But what the west condemns in Syria it simply ignores in Ukraine even though it's on it's own doorstep. Syria is fighting for it's life against brutal western backed terrorists who hold the population hostage. Ukraine on the other hand is fighting a war against people whose only crime is not wishing to be second class citizens in a neo-liberal fascist laboratory of the future. The Self Defense forces are trying to protect not terrorize the populace. In Ukraine the government is out to terrorize it's own populace. Yet the west condemns the regime battling terrorists and applauds the terrorist regime in Kiev. The self defense forces managed to carry out a number of successful attacks eliminating fascist death squads and Capturing and killing hundreds of Ukrainian army troops. However the town was slowly encircled and the bombardment of civilians continually escalated. Colonel Strelkov decided to make a surprise withdrawal. An armored group gave their lives distracting the Ukrainian army while the towns defenders escaped with their families and many of their supporters. Unfortunately the town a symbol of freedom around the world has now fallen under occupation. The regime tried to stage a transparent propaganda stunt by bribing townspeople to pose with with the same troops that had been indiscriminately firing at them with Artillery, aircraft, and rocket trucks only the day before. Embarrassingly they were photographed handing out the cash and the images somehow made it out despite the communications blackout. More accurate are the reports of townspeople greeting their occupiers with shouts of "Fascists." Already there are reports of summary executions executions of people who aided the self defense forces. We can only hope that the city of Slavyansk does not go from being a symbol of resistance to the site of yet another fascist war crime like Odessa. The world is watching and waiting to see what will happen. Donetsk has become the new center of resistance and the resistance are bracing for yet another siege. The hope is that with the aid of the experienced veterans of the siege of Slavyansk they will be able to mount a more effective defense of Donetsk. Their only hope is to delay the fascists long enough for the regime to either collapse or be forced into a genuine negotiation. I should mention that hilariously CNN reported that Slavyansk was in Crimea and that the reconquest of Crimea had begun. Incompetence or transparent propaganda? At this point it seems that an attack on Crimea would be the only thing capable of bringing the Russians into this war. After all they've even turned a blind eye to Ukraine shelling of Russian boarder Station. But of course they unlike the geographers at CNN (who have made a string of strange mistakes like this) know that Slavyansk is not in Crimea.
Alternative media site Slavyangard run by Gleb Bazov known to Vineyard of the Saker readers like myself for his beautiful translations has broken two shocking stories recently. A hacked series of Facebook messages revealing that the oligarchs are profiting from the war by selling harvested organs on the black market. You'd think after all the embarrassing leaks earlier in the year they would learn to be careful what they said on the phone or in emails. After all Yulia Tymoshenko herself already was revealed to the world as a genocidal madwoman when her phone calls were hacked and released to the public. She was caught threatening to nuke ethnic Ukraine and Russia itself boasting she would use her international connections to start world war 3. Then she loudly wished she had a machine gun so she could assassinate Vladimir Putin. Despite that fact her lawyer decided to carry out Black Market Organ selling over FaceBook of all things. Ah the arrogance of sheer impunity since their imperial patrons in the US and the EU have clearly given them the green light to do whatever is necessary to crush all resistance and the Media have taken their cue and decided to pretend the whole thing isn't happening the Kiev regime have decided to use their impunity to make some bloodstained dollars. Sergey Vlasenko Yulia Tymoshenko's lawyer used his connections to find commanders willing to harvest the organs of the troops they lost in battle they may also have been harvesting organs of civilians or pows. After all the lawyer was under constant pressure to find the freshest possible organs and was constantly pressuring commandeers like Semyon Semenchencko who lead a fascist national guard force notorious for war crimes. At the very least they cynically profited from the often disastrous campaign. It's symptomatic of our whole sick world blood flows but so does the cash. I'm reminded of notorious Nicaraguan Dictator Somoza who for years made a fortune literally selling the blood of his people to America. Vampire capitalism at it's finest. For the Kiev regime every fallen soldier is a potential source of profit. Perhaps they were inspired by fellow NATO freedom fighters the KLA in Kosovo who also engaged in Black Market Organ selling as well as selling captured women into prostitution and dominating the flow of Heroin into Europe and the US. So long as a group serves western interest it can do whatever it wants on the side to make a buck which explains the long association of the CIA with the international drug trade. One day the CIA will change it's motto to "why choose the lesser evil." Their current one is absolutely hilarious "the truth will set you free."
While the Oligarchs are making money from the bodies of their fallen troops Kiev continues under the reign of fascists bands. Just as the west has granted the Kiev regime impunity the kiev regime has granted the fascists impunity. The result has been a long series of violent attacks on their critics, ethnic Russians, historical sites, Synagogues etc. Kiev is beginning to resemble the dystopian future of the clockwork orange where gangs of fascist youth go out looking for a bit of the old ultra-violence. In Their latest escapade caught on security cam they swarm an LGBT club perform a few random acts of violence after forcing their way in and then flee it all takes less then a minute. More terrifying still is the account of some refugees from kiev who have recently arrived in Moscow and claim
A: Kiev has become a scary place to live in, Sasha. For half a year now, people have been divided into two classes: those in masks are permitted to do anything they want, and, for that reason, they think themselves entitled to dictate their demands to everyone else. Moreover, they do not care who is in front of them; they dictate even to the elected president how and what to do.
These are youths, with sticks and guns, who are very well informed and they can find anything they want about their victim: where he lives, where he works, who his wife is, which kindergarten his kids attend. Since February, thousands of people have disappeared in our city. And everyone keeps silent about it; they are all intimidated and afraid. At any time, bandits in masks can show up at your door, and there is no control over them, not by police, not by the leadership of the city or the country. If you are in a mask – you are Über-Ukrainian; if you are without one – you are second class, regardless of whether you are Ukrainian or Russian.
A terrifying description of life under fascism. I can't help but think of the iconic image floating around twitter fascists wearing deaths heads masks and SS T-shirts. And since I'm cutting and Pasting read this heartbreaking account from the same article the words of an orphan of Slavyansk. Again credit goes to Slavyangard for this information (see sources below)
This message was sent by a girl from Slavyansk to a LifeNews journalist, Ermina Kotandzhyan (@JustErmina). They became acquainted in Slavyansk.
Hello, how are you? That's it Ermina, you won't believe, but we have surrendered Slavyansk, we no longer have this city, and we are now in Donetsk ... This is hot it is, many of guys died, and there were many wounded. My area, where I lived, was almost completely destroyed, together with my parents. So now I am homeless. I am an orphan with my sister; I managed to get her out – she is 9 years old. I don't even know what to tell the child, that she now has no father, no mother, no grandma, no uncle ... It's only me left ...
Clearly the people of Ukraine are caught between two terrible fates. If they do not resist they will be terrorized by fascist mobs and if they do resist they will be terrorized by the army and fascist national guard units. Only time will tell whether the occupation of the city of Slavyansk will prove even worse then the brutal siege. There is no telling how long this war may last.
The Geopolitics of Iraq became even clearer as the US called for Maliki to step down. They showed their hand clearly since if they had any genuine concern over ISIL aka ISIS aka IS they would not be worried about Maliki's petty sins but would be demanding he centralize power and restore order. Here Ukraine provides the perfect contrast the west certainly isn't asking Poroshenko to step down or to negotiate. Instead it has demanded that he crack down even making the IMF loans contingent on his maintaining Ukraine's territorial integrity. In Iraq on the other hand the US is already playing out their regime change handbook demanding Maliki step down. The Central government must either choose a more suitably pliable ruler or say good bye to it's territorial integrity. The likely candidates show that the US has learned nothing. The names floating around even include the infamous conman Achmed Chalabi I call him that not because of his role in selling the idea that Iraqis would greet their invasion and occupation with shouts of joy, or that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction, after all he was just repeating the neo-con talking points. Instead I refer to the little mentioned fact that he was wanted for fraud. They've also tried to reinstall old favorite Iyad Allawi who Iraqis call Sadham Without the mustache throughout the war the US hoped to install him as a new dictator but he was always too unpopular. Other names for possible replacements include Abdel Abdul Mahdi famous for his efforts to sell off the nations oil on favorable terms to the west and Bayan Jaber former head of the Badr brigade death squads. Maliki however has refused to resign since whatever his failings he did get the most votes.
Meanwhile the mainstream press is entirely too gleeful Time magazine ran the Cover the end of Iraq? Wishful thinking, I'm sure they wish they could wipe the whole troublesome country off the map and out of the history books. But despite Thirty years of western scheming despite 3 wars and a genocidal sanctions program Iraq survives. While the US only pretended to offer help Russia and Iran both offered real support. Calls from powerful clerics like the reclusive Ayatollah Sistani and the fiery Moqtada Al Sadr have caused a rush of volunteers who have stabilized the situation and the government has slowly gone on the offensive. In time they may be able to reconquer the ISIL held territories especially as the local population is bound to increasingly turn against ISIL. They are already carrying out their trade mark war crimes attacking Shia and Sunni Holy sites and massacring civilians. They are also already battling some of their supposed allies. Meanwhile the government is already bombing the terrorists with Iranian supplied jets. Kurdistan is taking full advantage of the situation seizing the long coveted Kirkuk. Still the American's have supposedly told them that the time for independence has not yet come. If the Iraqi government succeeds in recapturing the ISIL territories or even before they finish we could see a war between the central government and the already practically defacto autonomous Kurdistan. Tensions have simmered for years between the two sides as the Kurds have attempted to grant oil concessions without the permission of the central government. The situation could further explode but for the moment Maliki still has a good chance of keeping Iraq's territorial integrity intact. Certainly he is fully aware of the treachery of the US and their longstanding plans adopted under Israeli influence to split Iraq into three separate parts. After all vice president Biden himself announced such a plan in 2008. Iranian president Rouhani decided not to play along with the American fiction that ISIL is acting independently pointing out that it was long supported in Syria by the US and it's NATO GCC, and Israeli allies. After all Iran was the original target of the redirection the year was 2006 and just as today the US blames Russia for destabilizing Ukraine rather then their color revolution installing Oligarchs and Fascist's who openly called for genocide against the Russian speaking minority. It was the same way Back in 2006 the US blamed the chaos in Iraq not on it's invasion occupation and covert dirty war aimed at starting a civil war. Instead they blamed the Iranians even going to the absurd length of blaming them for being behind the Sunni resistance in the Anbar province and even Al Qaeda itself. That was when the US began it's campaign to bribe the Sunni resistance and began to direct it towards destabilizing Lebanon and later Syria. These are the origins of ISIL. Of course being neighbors of Afghanistan and possessing a good intelligence service Iran has doubtless followed closely every step of the creation and evolution of so called al Qaeda from the start. Thus disgusted by this attempt to Balkanize Iraq and remove the democratically elected Maliki from power, Iran openly accused the US of being behind the whole thing and refused to go along with the polite fiction that the US is the enemy not the ally of groups like ISIL. Putin has also thrown his support behind Maliki and if he holds onto power Iraq could become even more a part of the Arc of resistance and may become a future ally of Russia China and Iran. How ironic it would be if this attempt to balkanize Iraq instead ended with Iraq and Iran more securely allied to Russia and China. This is what comes of having foreign policy directed by neo-cons whose specialty is creating mythology not doing analysis how wonderful it would be to see the realists howls of rage on the day Iraq and Iran join the CSTO or the SCO. These are the Collective Security treaty organization and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization respectively the first is a Russia security alliance the other a Chinese economic alliance. Thus this latest pivot in US foreign policy could be disastrous in terms of the Great game in the long term. Just as the Ukraine crisis only further cemented ties between Russia and China another of Zbigniew Brzezinki's nightmares along with Iran pushed permanently into an alliance with Russia. No wonder his book strategic vision is full of warnings about Neo-Conservative meddling in US Foreign policy. If Maliki manages to survive and win the civil war the attempt to balkanize Iraq could backfire, just like the failed color revolution in then ally Uzbekistan pushed them back into the arms of Russia.
While Slavyansk has fallen Donetsk has become the seat for the decisive phase of the Ukrainian civil war. Unfortunately they face overwhelming odds. Their only real hope is for the people of western Ukraine to rebel against this bloody and senseless war and the brutal Austerity measures that are about to go into effect. Russia seems determined not to intervene. Meanwhile Baghdad of course did not fall as even certain areas of the city could single handedly have wiped out ISIL had they been foolish enough to venture into say Sadr City. Maliki's Iraq may be able to survive intact. The US may end up pushing Iraq into the arms of Russia and China.

Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Donetsk Alexander Boroday arrived to Moscow |
Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Donetsk Alexander Boroday arrived to Moscow. His visit comes at the time of retreat of Slavyansk units led by Igor Strelkov to Donetsk and tightening of the circle of punitive action around Donetsk and Luhansk. The head of DNR talked to «Gazeta.ru» on the vertical of power in the country and consultations with Moscow, the retreat from Slavyansk and accusations thrown against Strelkov by Sergey Kurginyan.
— What will change in the People’s Republic of Donetsk after the arrival of Igor Strelkov to the capital of the republic? How will the military hierarchy be build: as vertical power under control of Strelkov or will it be some general council of commanders?
— We feel huge sorrow and regret after Slavyansk was left. It was a symbol of resistance, its heroic defense already engraved history. But from a purely military point of view keeping Slavyansk was pointless.
Strelkov is in Donetsk now and it is great both from humane and administrative point of view. Now Strelkov is our Commander-in- Chief and we will put into practice the solid vertical subordination of all power units which I had to manage before, sometimes successfully, sometimes not so. Together with Igor we can build a very effective, top-down command structure.
— What do you think about the sudden visit of Sergey Kurginyan to Donetsk and the harsh accusations he was throwing at Strelkov? Many associate Kurginyan with Vladislav Surkov and the «party of peace» in the Kremlin.
— I’m sure that’s not true. First of all, I would not associate Surkov himself with the «party of doves." This is erroneous interpretation. Secondly, I do not know why Kurguinyan has come there. To be frank, I am outraged by his words against Strelkov. Now I’m in Moscow, not in Donetsk, but if I were in Donetsk, I think my response would be quite firm. Strelkov is there now, managing things as a chief, and being in his place I would also give it back to Kurginyan. Because such statements during wartime are disruptive. And my strong advise to Sergei Ervandovich Kurginyan would be to think twice before talking such nonsense.
— The head of the battalion «Vostok» Alexander Khodakovsky is a figure not less mysterious than Kurguinyan. A former employee of the SBU, he has not allowed the nationalization of assets of oligarch Akhmetov, his men are guarding the infamous Kurginyan, he was behind the failed attacks on the Donetsk airport and frontier point «Marinovka» …
— Wait, let’s look at things more carefully. You are now mentioned points, some of them totally untrue. This is complete nonsense that Khodakovsky stood against nationalization of assets Akhmetov. He had and has nothing to do with the economical side. And he follows orders without questions. So we have no issues with Khodakovsky engaging into some extracurricular activities.
— That is, you don’t think he’s got connections with Akhmetov?
— He used to be commander of the Donetsk «Alpha», he was a member of the local elite — and of course Rinat Akhmetov knows him well. But this does not affect his performance as a DNR commander in any way. So let’s leave aside all the idle gossip.
— What about the attack at the airport — did it fail or not?
— Thing is that for quite long time we were playing according to certain rules with the Ukrainian side, and the main purpose of it was not to escalate the situation further. And roughly speaking, there were mutual surrender deals. The border check point and the airport were just those, I must admit, but our expectations were broken because the other side kept playing foul. So yes, you can call those operations failed but there was no evil plan or lack of military abilities of Khodokovskiy.
— So now the rules change?
— It is obvious that now there will be new rules.
— How exactly do you imagine the further course of the fighting? You have two regional centers — Donetsk and Lugansk. What will happen, theoretically, if Ukrainian army totally blocks the cities?
— Complete blocking of any of these cities by Ukrainian army is impossible. Ukrainian army is not able to encircle even Donetsk, with all its resources. So I do not see it as a serious threat in the future. In addition, the Ukrainian army and its resources are already terribly undermined and their morale had plummeted.
— So you are preparing for a long siege?
— We’re getting ready not so much for a siege as to show them some real action.
— To counterattack?
— Of course. The concentration of forces which was achieved after Strelkov and his squad came intact from Slavyansk (and those are seasoned fighters, and they are plenty), allows us to hope for success. When we had a an extremely stretched front line having to keep garrisons fighting simultaneously in many places it was difficult. Now this problem is solved. I think leaving Slavyansk was absolutely justified, from the military, and even from the political point of view.
— What do you think they intend to do in the Kremlin now? Many believe that Moscow does not support the idea of republics joining Russia, and instead wishes for more instability in the eastern Ukraine as a lever of pressure on Kiev, as well as for the sake of maintaining the status quo in the Crimea.
— I cannot confidently comment on the Kremlin’s plans, since I am not the one making them. But I definitely do not see there any desire to maintain instability in the so-called south-east of Ukraine. This term still exists, although, as you know, most of people in Donetsk and Lugansk hate to hear the name Ukraine. I can understand why.
Rather, I see quite opposite — the desire to contribute to the maximum stabilization. It’s another thing that the vision of stabilization by Kiev and that by the Kremlin are very different.
— Is Victor Medvedchuk entitled to represent the Republic in negotiations with Kiev? If, for example, Putin and Medvedchuk put an ultimatum tomorrow — for all your fighters to lay down arms and start negotiations with emissaries of Poroshenko, do you think such negotiations will be possible?
— Let’s take Putin and Medvedchuk apart. I mean — apart. They are two completely different people, two completely disparate political figures. In the case of Viktor Medvedchuk, he has no right to represent DNR or LNR. He is a negotiations fixer, and as such (and as a human being) I quite like him. What we really talk about here is possible resumption of the consultation process, which can result in a ceasefire.
But we will have negotiations only on the condition that the territory of the DNR and LNR is free of enemy troops. Only then the governments of republics may enter into negotiations with the official Kiev.
— Are you getting any financial or military help from Russia right now? Are there any direct tranches from Moscow to Donetsk People’s Republic?
— Of course, there are no direct tranches. This is nonsense. The whole implication of the question — is there any help?- seems a bit provocative to me. There is no Moscow’s fault in the events in DNR and LNR. They, indeed, and that is why I am here, do provide consultation and advice on resolution of the conflict. But Moscow is not one of the parties involved into the conflict and does not participate in it.
— So Moscow acts as a mediator?
— If you want to put it this way, yes. A very friendly mediator, for us.
— The same team that helped you in the Crimea, organized a referendum, helped to keep order during the referendum — they also help you in the Donbass?
— Yes, I have a small team that worked with me in the Crimea, and now we work in DNR.
— Do you personally think that the proclamation of the republic at the cost of numerous casualties on both sides was worth it? Don’t you feel you should have rather stuck to the peaceful political consultant work instead of being a head of DNR?
— You know, the profession of a political strategist is only relatively peaceful. Who would have thought that politics has such a colossal impact on people’s lives. The results can be different, and unfortunately, even as tragic as what we see today in Ukraine.
And frankly speaking I never imagined that the war will be unleashed on such a scale and with such brutality. Hoped that this can be prevented.
Even now I still hope that we can do something and stop the victims count from growing, stop these war deaths, and end it as soon as possible. This is the aim, the reason why I work.
To stop the civil war, the bloodshed between Slavs, fighting between people of the same blood. But this does not mean that the massacre must end on the terms given by Kiev or Kolomoyskiy. We did not start it. In fact, I say quite openly that this massacre was started by mister Kolomoyskiy and his ilk.
— That is, your conditions do not change? You expect a full ceasefire and will start a dialogue only after the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the territory of the republics?
— Let’s just say, the dialogue can be also in the format of consultation. But the negotiations, full negotiations that would lead us to peace are only possible, of course, after the fulfillment of these conditions. Peace through surrender is unacceptable to us under any circumstances. Peace by agreement is possible and desirable. We want Kiev to recognize us as belligerent, and it should be a document, involving independent states of international law.
Ewiges Gedenken dir, Held!!
The clashes between militia forces and Ukrainian troops continued last night in different districts of Donetsk Region, representatives of the independence supporters told RIA Novosti Thursday.Weitere Zusammenstöße zwischen Volkswehr und ukrainischer Armee im Donezbecken
“To put it in a few words, our situation can be described as the following: the enemy continues to bring troops to Donetsk, we are trying to prevent that. Our forces remain in control of Seversk on the outskirts of Slaviansk, around which we need to avoid the enemy closing up the circle of Lisichansk and Rubezhniy in Luhansk Region. In turn, we besieged a large group in the south of the region, near the Saur-Mogila,” the representative of militia headquarters said, adding that the Ukrainian Army continues to shell the city of Slaviansk and the village of Karlovka, with heavy artillery.
According to the source, clashes continue on the outskirts of Slaviansk and Kramatorsk, from where the main forces of the People’s Republic of Donetsk recently retreated.
“On the way out of the Kramatorsk’s airport [where Ukrainian troops have built up] our group attacked the enemy’s convoy. Three armored vehicles were damaged, 18 people killed. Upon leaving Slaviansk, we disabled two T-64 tanks and liquidated four special forces officers,” the representative said.
Dmitry Tymchuk, the head of the Kiev-based Center of Military and Political Research, wrote on his Facebook that a BTR-80 Ukrainian armored vehicle tripped a land mine, injuring five servicemen near the village of Chervonaya Zarya in Donetsk Region. Tymchuk added that a BMP-2 infantry combat vehicle also exploded in the area.
“The ammunition detonated in the vehicle. Two servicemen were killed, six injured,” Tymchuk wrote on his account.
According to Tymchuk, independence supporters attacked five checkpoints in different areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions overnight. One Ukrainian soldier was injured.
Kiev has launched a military operation in the east of Ukraine in a crackdown on independence supporters protesting the February regime change and demanding sovereignty after holding referendums. Moscow has labelled the campaign, which has led to numerous casualties, as punitive and called on Kiev to immediately stop the bloodshed.
First Ukrainian Soldier: The situation is such that the battalion is in a difficult situation, both in terms of resources and its territorial position. What they show in the news – that we are encircling the separatists – is, where out battalion is [stationed], exactly the opposite. The guys are at the end of their rope. It’s trouble there. It’s a disaster.
On one side, there are the forces of the Russian Federation standing there, practically 4 kilometres from us. And there is such military equipment there, believe me, that nothing would help us. It’s no longer about flack jackets and military equipment. Do you understand? It’s a completely different [situation]. We just have to get our guys out of there.
Unequivocally, the battalion can’t remain there. Well, the guys stationed there, they are like condemned men facing execution. I say this responsibly – I was stationed there and I came from there. And even then, we have to take them out, carefully. We have to take them out, carefully. And, honestly, I don’t know how this [rescue]is to be done but it must be done. It must be done and it must be done immediately.
Let me repeat, the situation as of today’s morning, I called there and I called yet again: not a single unit of military equipment has arrived, they [the soldiers] are standing in an open field.
[voices of women in the background] We know, we know.
An open field. Buses – you understand the condition of those buses that were already burned down; they were trying to escape under enemy fire. Comrade major, who perished, he was my friend [crying], I would ask for a minute of silence to honor him
[women sobbing in the background]
Second Ukrainian Soldier: I would like to add that this battalion was sent to do a so-called “combat mission;” this was a criminal order from the superiors.
[in the background, women asking] “Which superiors, which region?”
Yes, a regional commander, but all are guilty, we are not going to name them now.
[woman in the background] It’s clear who [it is], it’s Yarko [Note: unclear – either Yarko or Toyarko] who is on top, and he is the only one who can give such an order
Because the battalion we talk about, as a matter of fact, they can perform combat mission only as formulated in the beginning – i.e. guard duty of [important strategic] objects in the region, let’s say, guarding certain checkpoints, but ony further away from the epicenter of hostilities.
However in the midst of combat action it can’t fulfill any mission because of the lack of needed equipment. Even if such equipment were to be provided to the battalion, there is nobody trained to use [it].
[woman in the background] Did you speak to the guys? About retreating, together with you?
Yes, a large number of them agreed to this but they are literally frightened – certain officers were holding them there by any means, [by hook or by crook]. Many wanted to depart with us, and we were planning to take an entire company with us. This would have been very difficult as we didn’t [transportation], and we planned to take a large truck. But at the very last moment they were held back.
I want to add that starting with this criminal order pursuant to which the guys were sent there, and we ourselves went as commanders, we refused to obey further criminal orders because by doing so we would endanger people and we didn’t want to
First Ukrainian Soldier: Yes, we don’t want to be the ones responsible for [the lives of] our guys, do you understand?
Second Ukrainian Soldier: We wanted to preserve their lives and the criminal order is not …
[woman in the background] Yes, yes, guys … but how to get them out of there?
Second Ukrainian Soldier: This is precisely why we came here, to figure out a way to get them out of there. I will finally …
Another Speaker: Understand that I am disclosing all of this so that everyone can realize …
[people talking over each other, also addressing the people coming up]
here comes people’s deputy Derevyanko, we must finally do something. Here, please come up here.
'Degeneration into genocide' as President Poroshenko calls for the murder of 'hundreds' of rebels for each of his troops killed – more than Nazi Germany ordered as punitive reprisals in World War II; eyewitnesses report Kiev death squads going 'house to house,' executing all men under 35 on the spot, 'crucifying' babies and forcing their mothers to watch – unspeakable atrocities under a complete mainstream media blackout. On Sunday, Ukrainian missiles killed and injured civilians in the Rostov region, the latest bombing on Russian territory. 1. The most basic rule of refugee law is the prohibition on the expulsion of refugees from safety into harm's way. Once a refugee has crossed the boundary into a safe haven (wherever that may be), he or she may not be compelled to return to danger (this prohibition applies also to those accused of international crimes, such as war crimes or crimes against humanity. Although the latter accusations have not here been made, it should be noted that even persons in this category must be brought to trial, rather than re-exposed to the very threat they fled from).A more in-depth discussion would, as indicated, raise further issues. For now, though, I leave you to consider the following shining example of the rise of totalitarianism in Ukraine.
2. The second basic rule of refugee law is the principle of preservation of families: family units ought not to be split, regardless of the circumstances and irrespective of what any of the family members have done or are alleged to have done. Families (by which I mean husbands, wives, children, relatives, the elderly, etc.) must be permitted to remain together, just as they otherwise would have had the opportunity to do so.
3. The third basic rule of refugee law is that refugees are persons in need of protection, and not a convenient workforce to be exploited as forced labour, or as soldiers; nor are they to be forcibly interned and segregated into various groups and dispersed into various institutions or establishments (however suitable such institutions may appear to an ignorant, untrained eye). By law, refugees possess and must be furnished with unrestricted freedom of travel and mobility within their country of refuge and may not be corralled or segregated from the rest of the population. This is a fortiori the case when refugees are found in a country in which they already benefit from a full panoply of personal, political and social rights, as is the case with Ukrainian refugees in Ukraine.

On Thursday, when a Malaysian Airlines plane was apparently shot down over Ukraine, a Ukrainian Buk anti-aircraft missile battery was operational in the region, the Russian Defense Ministry said, contradicting Kiev’s statements.
The battery was deployed at a site from which it could have fired a missile at the airliner, the ministry said in a statement. It said radiation from the battery’s radar was detected by the Russian military.
“The Russian equipment detected throughout July 17 the activity of a Kupol radar, deployed as part of a Buk-M1 battery near Styla [a village some 30km south of Donetsk],” the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry said the radar could be providing tracking information to another battery deployed in the region, which was at a firing distance from the plane’s flight path.
Earlier Kiev said it could not have fired a missile at the passing civilian plane because it had no Buk missile launchers deployed in the region. At the same time the Ukrainians said the militias had no Buk systems in their hands, according to a statement from the country’s Prosecutor General.
After the Russian ministry came out with the statement, Bogdan Senyk, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Defense Ministry reiterated Kiev’s position, saying that "anti-aircraft missiles have not been deployed during the anti-terrorist operation ... they are all in place."
The Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 carrying almost 300 people on board crashed on Thursday as it was flying over Ukraine's Donetsk Region. The plane was apparently shot down by a surface-to-air missile, although both Kiev and the local militias fighting against it deny responsibility. A flurry of condemnations and calls for a swift investigation followed the disaster.
Some Western states and Kiev rushed to find Russian involvement in the MH17 crash having no evidence to back their claims, Russia’s Deputy Defense Minister told RT. He invited Ukraine to answer 10 questions to prove their commitment to an impartial probe.
Speaking to RT, Russia’s Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov has criticized Western countries for jumping to conclusions just “24 hours after the crash” while there is no evidence.
“They try to show to the whole world that we are responsible for the crash. It is very strange that without any evidence my colleagues from western media would like to find somebody who is responsible for the crash,” Antonov said. “It seems to me that this is part of information warfare which has been started against the Russian Federation and armed forces.”
Instead of using the incident as the pretext for groundlessly blaming one of the sides, the catastrophe over Ukrainian sky should be used as a possibility to restart cooperation to “prevent such tragedies in the future.”
“As for me, I don’t want to use this opportunity to blame anybody. I would just like to raise few questions for my colleagues from the armed forces of Ukraine,” Antonov said. “I hope they try to answer the questions, it will be a good opportunity for us to realize where we are, whether there is a possibility for us to restart cooperation and to find who is really responsible for the tragedy.”
“Answers for these questions could help us find an opportunity to prevent such tragedies in the future,” the Deputy Defense Minister said.
TEN QUESTIONS FOR THE UKRAINIAN AUTHORITIESLink to video http://rt.com/files/news/2a/79/80/00/1847386_antonov_version1_480p.mp4
1. Immediately after the tragedy, the Ukrainian authorities, naturally, blamed it on the self-defense forces. What are these accusations based on?
2. Can Kiev explain in detail how it uses Buk missile launchers in the conflict zone? And why were these systems deployed there in the first place, seeing as the self-defense forces don’t have any planes?
3. Why are the Ukrainian authorities not doing anything to set up an international commission? When will such a commission begin its work?
4. Would the Ukrainian Armed Forces be willing to let international investigators see the inventory of their air-to-air and surface-to-air missiles, including those used in SAM launchers?
5. Will the international commission have access to tracking data from reliable sources regarding the movements of Ukrainian warplanes on the day of the tragedy?
6. Why did Ukrainian air traffic controllers allow the plane to deviate from the regular route to the north, towards “the anti-terrorist operation zone”?
7. Why was airspace over the warzone not closed for civilian flights, especially since the area was not entirely covered by radar navigation systems?
8. How can official Kiev comment on reports in the social media, allegedly by a Spanish air traffic controller who works in Ukraine, that there were two Ukrainian military planes flying alongside the Boeing 777 over Ukrainian territory?
9. Why did Ukraine’s Security Service start working with the recordings of communications between Ukrainian air traffic controllers and the Boeing crew and with the data storage systems from Ukrainian radars without waiting for international investigators?
10. What lessons has Ukraine learned from a similar incident in 2001, when a Russian Tu-154 crashed into the Black Sea? Back then, the Ukrainian authorities denied any involvement on the part of Ukraine’s Armed Forces until irrefutable evidence proved official Kiev to be guilty.
If the passenger jet was shot down, there only a limited number of weapons in the region that could have been responsible. One possibility is the Buk surface-to-air missile system. Several former Soviet countries use the weapon, including Ukraine. It has the ability to hit up to 24 targets at the same time within a distance of 45 kilometers, and reaching an altitude of 25 kilometers. Its missiles travel at up to 1,200 meters per second. But as yet, there is no confirmation that this weapon system was the cause of the crash. For more RT is joined by former UK army officer Charles Shoebridge.
